Weight Loss Success The Simple Way
You're already trying hard to lose weight. You're exercising and eating right. You're drinking more water and less juice. So how about doing a couple extra things this year? These things will probably not make you lose 20 pounds right away but a couple extra pounds a week. During a year this is a substantial amount of pounds, buddy! Let's take a look at a few things you could do to supplement your weight loss:
1. Be adventurous!
Try a food that you have never had before and see if you like it. Try new kinds of fruit, veggies and even new snacks. If you cook or bake, get in the kitchen and experiment with new recipes or come up with a few of your own. Dieting does not have to be drudgery, go ahead, and have fun with it!
2. Order the salad when you eat out.
When you are eating at a restaurant, order the salad first and have the waiter put the dressing on the side. This will help to fill you up so that you don't eat as much. When your main course comes, eat half and bring the rest home for lunch the next day. If you just have to have dessert, but one order and split it with someone.
3. Chew cinnamon flavored gum.
The cinnamon taste has a stimulating effect and it will keep you satisfied longer than mint gum or gum that is fruit flavored. When you begin to feel hunger pangs (if it is not close to meal time) pop a piece of cinnamon gum in your mouth to ward off the hunger.
4. Don't head straight for the kitchen when you get home from work or school.
Wait at least 20 minutes before you wander into the kitchen when you get home from school or work. Do something else first like change your clothes, call a friend, water the flowers or go for a walk. This will help to keep you from eating irresponsibly as well as reduce your stress.
5. Eat snacks during the day.
Snacking is OK; it is often choices of snacks that are detrimental to effective weight loss. Choose nutritious snacks like fresh fruit, raw vegetables with fat free dip and other fun, healthy snacks to keep your energy level up, your metabolism even and to ward off hunger.
6. Make eating an event in itself.
This is one of the most overlooked fitness and exercise tips. When you are reading, watching television, doing your homework or doing any other activity, you should not eat. Let your meals and snacks me events. Focus entirely on what you are eating. When your attention is divided between eating and other activities, you tend to overeat. If you are in the habit of eating while engaging in activities, it may be tough at first to break that habit. When you are doing something else and feel the urge to eat, take a break and do something to distract yourself.
Watching television, reading, doing work, playing video game, and similar activities are responsible for a lot of the overeating that goes on among the younger generation. Concentrate meal time on enjoying each morsel of your food and you may find you need less morsels to get joy from eating.
