One of the reasons that many people choose body detox diets is because they think that it will actually help them and their bodies fight off infections, strengthen their immune systems, as well as give them a whole host of other benefits.
Detoxing is simply the method of removing poisonous substances from the body by cleansing the blood in the liver, via the kidneys, lungs, intestines and skin.

Even though most people are going on the detox diet to lose weight quickly, there's many other health benefits to be gained by doing a body detox. Even back 60 years ago when the detox diet was first invented people had health problems as a result of waste building up inside of them.
