Considering A Tummy Tuck? Ponder On It Again

A tummy tuck is one of the most popular elective plastic surgery procedures. The purpose of tummy tuck is to give you a firm tummy. They are a good option if you would like to get rid of excess skin left over after weight loss or pregnancy.

Let's look at the different types of a tummy tuck, it is also called abdominoplasty

In tummy tuck, it can be done in 2 different ways. They are Full Tummy Tuck or a mini tummy tuck. The full tummy tuck is a more evasive sugery, but it also can handle much more of an area of the mid section.

Procedure of a Full Tummy Tuck

During a full tummy tuck the following steps occur:

- A large incision in made at the pelvic bone from hip to hip.
- Removal of belly button.
- Separating muscle from the skin.
- Tightening muscles and removing excessive fat.
- The skin is put back into place and the belly button is put back.
- Lipo suction is done to sculpt the area.

The full tummy tuck procedure should take about 1 to 5 hours. The duration depends on the amount of work to be done. After surgery you will wear a compression garment to help with the pain and aid in healing. There may be a need for a drainage splint to drain out any excessive fluid.

It can take up to one month to recover from a full tummy tuck procedure and it can be a painful recovery. Total recover time can take up to six months.

As mentioned, A full tummy tuck is a major procedure. Be sure to consider carefully if you want to choose a full tummy tuck instead of a minim tummy tuck.

A mini tummy tuck is a less expensive and less evasive procedure. The recovery period tend to be shorter. If you are not completely sure about getting a full tummy tuck then you may wish to discuss this alternative with your surgeon as it may be a better option.

Overall a full tummy tuck is going to cost more, take longer to recover from and come with more risks then a mini tummy tuck. However, if you need attention to your whole stomach area then this may be the best option for you.
