The Sport Of Kings: Thoroughbred Horse Racing

Thoroughbred horse racing is one of the most famous international sports today. It is held in different countries across the globe and the thoroughbred horse racing systems are governed by different bodies in the different countries where they are held. There are two types of thoroughbred horse racing - the flat racing and the jump racing. The jump racing is subdivided into steeplechase and hurdling. Horse racing results from these races are dependent on the breeding, caring, and training of the horses. Thus, a horse racing tip is about these three most important elements of horse racing.

As horse racing is the sport of kings, it used to be that the horses were owned only by wealthy enthusiasts. However, in the more recent years, some of the horses are owned by partners. One example is the champion, Motivator, which is owned by the famous Royal Ascot Racing Club and the horse Cide, which was owned by 10 partners from the Sackatoga Stable. Commercial breeding of throroughbred horses started to become more popular in North America, Australia and Europe after the Second World War. Commercial breeders started to breed these horses and then sold them by public auction or private sales.

These horses run under the unique color of the owner. These colors are registered under the governing body for a particular race. Thus, a color becomes exclusive to that owner. Thousands of dollars are paid for these color arrangements.

Aside from the color, the owners also pay large amounts of money for the trainer. In North America this is called day rate although it is normally paid on a monthly basis. Then, for the horses which are not stabled, there is also the payment for the training center or gallops. Other expenses for the thoroughbred horses are fees for veterinarian, farrier, insurance, jockey fees, and stakes entry fees. All in all, the cost for owning a thoroughbred horse for a year is about œ15,000 in Europe and about $35,000 in North America. Thus, with the cost of owning and training thoroughbred horses, even today, the sport is still considered a king's sport.
